Works pretty good June 9, 2010 Robert Pokorney (Mid-America) Used this on the headlights of a 99 Civic and worked good, not brand new looking but very clean and makes the car look that much better, the instructions do not say to do this but next time I will use a fine grit sand paper to smoothen the rough parts of the lens before using the G1900K
Great results with little effort June 8, 2010 D. Marchiando (California United States) I was skeptical of this product at first, but was pleasantly surprised. The plastic headlights of my daugter's 9-yr old VW were awful. They were extremely cloudy and yellow, and you could no longer see the reflector or the bulbs. I masked off around the lenses to protect the rest of the car. The lenses were really rough so I cheated and wet-sanded them with 1000 grit wet/dry sandpaper first to get rid of the yellow plastic on the surface, for about 5 minutes per side. I then buffed them using the pad and drill twice. The product breaks down as you buff, and then eventually disipates. It leaves an oily residue which will initially give the impression that the lenses are clearer than they really are. After I buffed them the second time they were really impressive. It should be interesting to see if the results last. There was enough product left to do them again if necessary. The instructions recommend applying the product to the polisher bonnet. After doing so, but before turning the drill on, I would recommend smearing the pad over the surface of the headlight to spread the compound around; otherwise the pad just flings compound several feet in every direction. Nonetheless, it is a messing job regardless of how careful you are. And initially the pad will shed a lot of yellow fluff all over, but not enough to make the pad unusable.
DOES NOT WORK; WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY May 21, 2010 Risch (Orlando FL) I speculated a lot before pushing the buy button; I should have agreed with the negative reviews. Headlights on my 2002 Cadillac STS just started to haze; a light yellow tinge appeared on it, so reading thru the reviews i thought i could get by. spent about 25-30 minutes buffing each headlight in hot florida sun, they never got restored what so ever. So much for Restoration ! Do not buy this product waste of money and time. if you want to give it a shot anyways try this, Harbor freight tool has the same plastx product a bigger bottle for 7 bucks, you can always pick up a buffing pad for couple of bucks from the same store. anyways over all highly unsatisfied with the product.
Read the instructions ... take your time ... May 19, 2010 S. Clint Bradford (Mira Loma, CA United States) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Just finished using this kit on my wife's 2004 Ford Mustang. Beautiful results. Take your time ... read the instructions FIRST - and you'll be fine. I originally thought of removing the lenses to do this. But with the hood open, there was enough "clearance" all around - as long as you take your time and watch what you are doing. First headlamp lens cover took almost ten minutes. By then, I was a pro, and it took about half that time for the second lens cover. (grin) Another quality product from Meguiar's.
Try First! April 14, 2010 F. Tolosa (Alexandria, VA) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
This product is awesome. I bought the 3M Sandpaper Kit first after reading some reviews and not wanting to waste my money. Big mistake, the 3M kit left scratches on my headlight lens that, as of now I haven't been able to remove (I spent a total of 3 hours and did the entire process twice on one headlight). Before doing the same to the other side I went ahead and bought this kit and it worked like a champ. Please try this kit first before using the abrasive/sandpaper kits!
